March 4: TAILS - List 7 things from any category of your choice
7 Songs Guaranteed to make me sing, dance, or both!
1. The Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy- brings back fond memories. Love this song!
2. Scandalous by Miss Teeq - it's got a great beat and it's a sexy song.
3. Love Train by the O'Jays - who can't help love this upbeat song?
4. We are Family by Sister Sledge - all about the "sisterhood." great, upbeat song.
5. Mambo #5 by Lou Vega - it's got some funky music and a catchy melody.
6. Blinded by the Light by Mannfred Mann - brings back fond memories, has some unique segments, and it's funny to hear what everyone thinks they're saying and then go look up the actual lyrics.
7. God Blessed Texas by Little Texas - I live in Texas! My daughter marched in a parade to this song when she was 4 years old. And it's a happy tune!

I love me some music.. as you may have noticed! These are all such good songs. And I agree they are all movers! Listening to Soul Train almost made me get up and start laundry and it's going on 1am here.
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh about Blinded By the Light. I've looked up the lyrics to that one and you know what? I still don't understand. :)
What a great fun post!!! #7 gets me every time too!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here singing, "Blinded by the light" while I write this! I'm with Skittle's though on the lyrics! Wrapped up like a douche? What?!!?!?Never understood that one. Still a great song!
ReplyDeleteI never know the title. Maybe i know the song but i always forget the title :D

ReplyDeleteMy list of 7 childhood memories is shared [with one photo of a toy that's nearly 50 years old...come by and say 'hi' if you can find time. I'd love to have you visit with me]
That's what's so funny! Blinded by the light... REVVED up like a DEUCE (a deuce is a sports car). LOL
ReplyDeleteblinded by light was just too good
ReplyDeleteLol on the revved up like a deuce. Now I'm singing Little Deuce Coupe! Ya, it's funny as there's so many questionings about the original lyrics to this song. Manford Man sings it revved up like a Deuce. Springsteen originally had it "cut loose like a Deuce". Then MM changed it to revved up like a douche so they could be different. However they're website says Deuce rather than Douche. It's been rumored that it could be Chris Thompson's New Zealand accent that has caused all the confusion as when you watch him sing it, his accent also clearly seems to be saying wrapped vs. revved. Okay, I could go on forever, LOL! We've gone back and forth on this song in our family for years. Ha ha ha. Either way, it's a great song, but very strange lyrics. They say that Springsteen wrote the lyrics as a "stream of concsiousness" describing all the bizarre individuals he met as a young artist. Still, the song is very weird, but I LOVE IT! :)
ReplyDeleteYup, great songs!
ReplyDeleteGood selection! I doubt I could choose seven, so I'm going to stick with yours!
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of those songs! (That's cool because I am so "out of it", so I'm happy!). I like that Mambo song: it reminds me of good times with my grownup kids. My HoT is here. Thank you.
