In Honor of the Release of Breaking Dawn...
In case you've never heard of Stephenie Meyer, here's the scoop. She is the author of the Twilight series whose main characters are vampires. She's all the rage among young adult readers and teens. Both my 15 year old and my 19 year old love the series.
The books in the series include Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and the fourth book that will be released at 12:01 Saturday morning (that's midnight Friday night) is called Breaking Dawn. You can read a recap of the first three books here. The Twilight movie will be released December 12, 2008.
Our local Borders store is having a party to celebrate the release of this fourth and final book in the series. The party will include costumes, trivia contests, prizes, Edward vs. Jacob debates, and questions for the editors of the book publisher. Our daughters have both asked to attend. We're thinking - probably yes. The 15 year old already has one autographed copy of Twilight for which she stood in line for hours to get, so she's what I would call an avid fan. No, she is obsessed.
So, are the teenagers in your life obsessed with Meyer's books? And have any of you checked out her first foray into adult literature, The Host?
Cool blog! Love the design!
ReplyDeleteI like vampire stories, too, and I'm not a teen. Arrested development? I haven't read this series, however. Nor have I read The Host. I'll have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteNot just the teenager in my life, me too! I'm actually the one who read the series first.
ReplyDeleteAs I type this, my daughter is re-reading New Moon. Having finished re-reading Twilight last night.
We already have a date to see the movie when it comes out.
We are both quite envious that your daughter has an autographed copy. Tres cool!
My daughter wants to go a midnight party as well. Sadly, she got No for an answer. My hubby works nights. I'm just not in the mood to do it by myself. Plus, I'd have to cart my son with us. That is just not fun to me! ;)
My niece is nuts over this series. She read the 1st book on the plane trip back here ad then we ran all over getting her book 2 & 3 to read while she was here so she'd be ready for book 4!
