Barb (Skittle’s Place) asks us to share our favorite Autumn memory for Heads or Tails this week.
I remember the crisp chill in the air, the smell of a wood-burning stove in the distance, and the quiet sound of the wind swaying the oak branches softly back and forth. I remember the dimples of a cute boy with sandy, curly, brown hair, a plain white tee shirt, and faded jeans. I don’t remember his name, but I remember the goosebumps I felt in anticipation of my first kiss. It was a cool Halloween evening, and I wanted so badly for him to put his arm around me and keep me warm. All the “little” kids were already inside, probably drinking milk and waiting impatiently for their parents to inspect their candy. We were in my driveway leaning against my dad’s Ford pickup truck trying to act grown up. I was only in middle school. We were so dorky, yet so sweet. I can picture his face vividly, and I remember the pounding of my heart. I remember the night air and the energy in my blood, but I can’t, for the life of me, remember that boy’s name! He did put his arm around me, but my Autumn kiss didn’t happen that night.

What a sweet story!! And what an awesome picture you captured!
ReplyDeleteAww this totally too me back to MY first kiss--which was not even close to as delicate and charming as your "almost first kiss"
ReplyDeleteVery sweet story.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely picture you painted with your words!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't surprise me that you can't remember his name seeing as how you call yourself Forgetfulone. :)
oh sure there were so many boys you can't rememeber his name. lol
ReplyDeleteA great memory nicely portrayed.
ReplyDeletehehehehehe that has happened to me (forgetting the name).
ReplyDeleteThe thrill is never forgotten.
great post.
love the photo you have chosen to go with it.
What a tease!!!! I wanted so much to have you tell us about your Autumn kiss! I'm bummed. With a white t-shirt and faded jeans, it musta been James Dean?!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my HoT entry. Have a super Tuesday.

ReplyDeleteah sorry you didnt get your autumn kiss, at least you got a snuggle though ;)
ReplyDeleteReally felt as though I was looking in on you. Great memory,
ReplyDeleteYou told a great story I was almost a peeping Tom
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting memory even with out the kiss. If I remember, Jr. high kisses were way too wet anyway. lol
ReplyDeleteSo, did the Autumn kiss ever happen? ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story.
ReplyDeleteaw, that's such a sweet story :) lovely autumn memory.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the memory even if the kiss didn't happen and I love the picture too.
ReplyDeleteMemories like that are priceless----
aww Diane! this was goosebump adorable!
ReplyDeleteThose memories are so sweet and precious.
His name isn't as important as the vivid image of his face. like Tammy said.. the kiss was not as important as the pounding of your heart and the energy in your blood that you descirbe (yeah, I know where it really was! haha)
What a wonderful memory Diane, as much as you want to remember his name, the mystery of the missing name makes it so sweet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo too.
