I can vividly recall where I was, what I was doing, where my children were, and the unreal feelings I had when the World Trade Center was attacked - NO - when America was under attack on September 11, 2001. Regardless of politics, opinions, and whatever is going on in the country today, I am proud to be an American. My hope is that we can remain united and fight against terrorists who would bring us down simply for who they think we are. I will never forget 9/11. Will you?
I too will always remember. I was standing at the door to my 6th grade classroom waiting for my homeroom to come in and find their seats when a co-worker walked by and said "turn your TV on." Curiosity got me, as well as the look on her face, and I did turn it on, only to end up staring in shock at the screen and struggling to find words to help my students who were coming in already knowing about it. It was the quietest day of school I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteThe President was visiting a school about a 1/2 hour from ours so many parents actually came and picked up thier kids, afraid something more was coming...that they would try to get to the President so close to us.
I hop I never have to experiance anything like that ever again. God bless America and those who defend us!
I will never forget. Posts like yours are important because without a reminder many will forget. Unfortunately, it is human nature to be apathetic. I appreciate you continuing to visit my blog. Most of the Sunday Scribblers have moved on.
ReplyDeleteNo, we will never forget.
