This week's prompt at Heads or Tails is "square."
One slang definition of the word "square," according to Urban Dictionary is a person who is regarded as dull, rigidly conventional, and out of touch with current trends.
While that may not describe me all of the time, this New Year's, I was a square. I certainly wasn't in Times Square! I didn't go out to eat, didn't go to a party, didn't go dancing. No. I stayed home, someone brought over fast food for dinner, and I played on the computer and watched movies. Pretty dull, huh? I didn't even have the obligatory glass of champagne but instead opted for a few ounces of strawberry wine at midnight. I didn't even eat traditional "good luck" foods on New Year's Day. Guess I just wanted to be a square! One slang definition of the word "square," according to Urban Dictionary is a person who is regarded as dull, rigidly conventional, and out of touch with current trends.
What did you do to ring in 2010?
Sound as if you had a pleasant new years eve without all those must do.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned the 'square' person in my HOT post too.
ReplyDeleteMy H O T is posted HERE
We were thinking of the same squares at the same time I guess . Is that square haha sandy
ReplyDeleteWe spent our New Year's Eve the same way - sitting home watching movies and playing on the computer. And, we went to bed before midnight.
ReplyDeletestayed home and did nothing but play on the computer.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a glass of anything although we'd bought some bubbly. It's still in the fridge. We were so tired (old) we watched the ball drop while in bed getting ready to fall asleep. I guess we share being square.
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing. =)
I was even more of a square! I went to sleep at 11 pm so I did not watch the ball drop or anything like that. We did not do anything special New Year's Eve, though we did go to Church on New Year's day.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gone out for New Year's Eve in more than twenty years. Frequently went to bed before midnight too. We watched the ball drop in Times Square this year. My daughter and I toasted the new year with a wine cooler and my granddaughter joined us with a Dr. Pepper. We spent a fair amount of time on the computer too. That's a fine way to spend any evening in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteOh... someone had to do a Times Square post... good one. What's odd is the first time I went to Times Square I was amazed that it really isn't a square.
ReplyDeleteMy HOTs is up here... http://doingthemathcountingmyblessings.blogspot.com/2010/01/square.html
In case you don't realize, Grandma is my mother. We are beyond square here, and we love every minute of our boring life.
