Confession is good for the soul. Link up with High-Heeled Love!
I confess...
The family and I went to see my daughter who is at Abilene Christian University last weekend. I cried once while I was there and again when we left. I can't help it. She's doing so well, but I miss her so much!
I confess...
I enjoyed watching the ACU football game, as did my son, but my daughter, not so much. She doesn't understand how the game is played, and she only went because a lot of students were going last weekend. They were playing my mother's alma mater (her grandmother). ACU won. I was happy!
I confess...
I got tired of eating out. We ate out all weekend from Friday lunch to Sunday dinner. Then we ate out Monday and Tuesday nights for my birthday, then again last night. In a full week, we had one meal at home. Eating out is fine in moderation, but I'm ready to cook some more meals at home.
I confess...
I'm tired of hearing about all of the athletes in the news for various things such as child abuse and domestic violence. I absolutely don't condone their behavior, but I do wish the media wouldn't "try" them. Let their cases be handled in private IMHO.
I confess...
I am a year away from 50. I can't believe it. Maybe that's why I had such a good birthday this year. I'm going to be half a century old next year!
Have a great weekend!

You can never have too much/too many...
There are certain things I really love, or just can't live without, and certain things that are really nice to have. Here are 13 things of which I (me, not everyone) can never have too much or too many - in no particular order.
1. Laughter - Whether it's a sit-com, a funny movie, jokes , or my son's crazy voices, I love to laugh.
2. Flowers - I received beautiful flowers from my daughter over the summer. It was such a surprise, and fresh flowers just make the house more homey.
3. Friends - I don't feel like I have a lot of friends, but I know a lot of people. I'm always happy to make a new friend.
5. Dental Floss - I wore braces a few years ago, yes, as an adult, and now I just can't stand not to floss after every meal. I have dental floss in every bathroom cabinet, my bag, a drawer at work, even the bathroom at work.
6. Shoes - Men don't understand that women need shoes for different occasions, different outfits, in different colors for different clothing. I know many women who have at least double the shoes I have!
7. Love - Can't live without it.
9. Money - I suppose I have enough, but I wouldn't mind having more.
10. Photographs - I love taking pictures. I like them on the walls of my house, in my wallet, at work, and in my scrapbooks.
12. Fragrance - I love things that smell good whether it's perfume, body spray, lotion, bath gel, candles, room spray, Scentsy.http://scentsy.com/.. you get the picture.
13. Time - There is never enough time for everything I want to see and do!

4. Bath Time - I'm usually in a hurry, and a quick shower is all I have time for, but when I have the luxury of taking a long, hot soak in the tub, it's divine.5. I'm currently reading books by an author I found on Goodreads, Mark Gimenez.12. Let's Get Random
I'm linking up with Emmy Mom for Friday 5. Post 5 thoughts and 5 photos. Join us!
Thoughts
1. No matter what time I go to bed, I am tired when I wake up.
2. I get to see one of my daughters this weekend. I haven't seen her since August 19, and it's been so hard! She's kind of my mini-me, only better. Much, much better. Couldn't she have chosen a university that was closer to home? I guess she is where she is supposed to be, though.
3. I would love to be able to see our other daughter. My husband is going to see her. She is 2 1/2 hours farther than I am going. It would be nice if she would come down for family weekend instead.
4. My son has adjusted to his college classes, but not necessarily the schedule. He has early morning classes and night classes, which is why he needs to register early next semester so he can actually choose the times he wants to go.
5. I am tired of hearing about pro athletes in the news. Their private matters are so public, and I realize they kind of "ask for it" by choosing that profession, but they can't get a fair trial because their cases are tried in the media.

I wish I had learned this back then...
With three kids in college, it got me thinking about things I know now that I didn’t know then but wish I had learned then.
1. How to be successful in an interview. Many colleges offer “mock” interviews now, but 30 years ago, they didn’t, at least not in the education department. Perhaps they did in the business department, though.
2. How to begin saving for retirement. It would have been so much better to learn it then than to wait until I was married with kids to figure things out.
3. Lessons about interest charges… credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, and so on. Again, maybe they did this in the business department, but I think it should be required to graduate.
4. How insurance works.
5. What a healthy relationship looks like.
6. How to solve a Rubik’s cube! Hahaha!
7. How to deal with difficult people. You shouldn’t have to wait until you’re on the job to learn some techniques to deal with the inevitable “unable-to-be-pleased” co-worker.
8. And along those same lines, conflict resolution.
9. What jury duty is REALLY like.
10. Self-defense – at least for females. I know that a lot of colleges offer these courses for women now.
11. The real-life consequences of not meeting deadlines. It’s not just a grade anymore.
12. How to set up a household.
13. How to find true happiness in your life!
I'm going to try to link up with Thursday Thirteen, but the website hasn't actually been active for a while. Maybe I should restart it?

13 Facebook Observations
With school starting a few weeks ago and three of our kids starting college, I haven't had much time to blog. But that's all changing starting... now. I have been on Facebook quite a bit in the meantime. It's easy to get to it from my phone whereas the blogs are easier on the laptop. In this time, though, I have made some observations about things I do and don't like on Facebook.
These things really get on my nerves!
1. Pictures of people’s feet and toes with the pool or beach in the background.
2. Posts that brag about how great their fiancé/boyfriend/husband is. Once in a while is okay, but every day? Multiple times a day? One is my friends is sooo guilty of this! (Here's a sample)
September 1 near (city, state)
If I wasn't sure before I AM now! I'm sooooooo marrying this guy!!!! Just fixed me the most amazing super cheesy grilled cheese & tomato soup, just the way I like it. And never even asked me -with (fiance's name)
3. People that “check in” to EVERY SINGLE PLACE they go. So-and-so is at “Clinic” getting a shot. Now she is at “Dentist” getting teeth cleaned. Now she is at “store” buying tomatoes. Now she is at “store” picking up digital photos. Now she is at “restaurant” eating Greek salad. Now she is at … all. Day. Long. Every. Single. Place. Until she is finally “home” snuggling with fiancĂ©/boyfriend/husband.
4. Morning selfie! Afternoon selfie! Going out at night selfie! Of course, darling, you are gorgeous!
5. Advertisements.
6. Pictures of people’s radio stations. I don’t care what you’re listening to! Does anyone?
Posts I’m not Tired of!
7. Cat and kitten pictures!
8. Posts about general topics or trivia. I don’t want to know when you last went to the bathroom!
9. Sports and news updates.
10. Posts about people’s kids… where does the time go?
11. Vacation updates/photos.
12. Recipes
13. Throwback Thursday posts. This is a friend who graduated the same year I did. Memories!
Always end with the positive! I'm linking up with Thursday Thirteen, although I haven't seen much activity there for over a month.
