Howdy, friends! What a crazy week! My sister and I are trying to make a decision about assisted living for my mom. She has lived in her home for over 55 years, the last 16 completely alone since my dad passed away.
She was not open to the idea until she realized 1) her medical attendants and doctor recommend it, 2) It's not a nursing home. It's actually more like a cruise where you have your own apartment (which is much larger than a cruise cabin), but you have your own apartment and you leave the apartment to have your meals, exercise, and activities. 3) They do activities she will like such as Bible study, games, bingo, movies, and much more. 4) She will have a housekeeper and most laundry will be done for her, 5) All of her meals will be prepared for her and served restaurant-style, and 6) Her pets are welcome. She wouldn't go anywhere without them!
In trying to help cancel mom's many charitable contributions, I have noticed it's much easier to start donating than it is to stop donating. Figures.I've been in my finger splint four weeks, and I rarely take it off except to change the bandages every few days, and it doesn't look like it's improving much. Still bent at an odd angel and swollen on the side, not to mention a blister forming on top of my finder due to the adhesive. Hopefully there will be a miracle in two weeks!
Completely new topic! This is random after all... Is anyone watching the Olympics?
I LOVE to watch women's gymnastics. I also like men's gymnastics, kayaking, swimming, diving, basketball, and track-and-field. Maybe a few others. Have you notice some new events? baseball, softball, karate, skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing.
And another random topic. I heard someone on TV describing a her guy friend as someone who "...would give you the shirt off your back." Did you catch that? Is he going to take my shirt off me and give it back to me? I assume she meant, "Give you the shirt off his back" meaning he's generous. Anyway, you can take the English teacher out of the job, but you can't take the job out of the English teacher!
And now...
Not really. It's me ALL THE TIME! I retired so I don't have to do zoom meetings! |
This man's sign is valid! |
Seems reasonable |
That's a good one! But they might call the local mental hospital! |
This really made me laugh! |
And last, but not least...
Awwww... |
Moving a parent is a real task. Hopefully your mom will like the assisted living style. Our Gramma doesn't want to do that yet, but she needs a lot of help and it is hard on the family to keep her in the house. Signing up to donate and for emails is always easy but it is a mystery how to stop it!
ReplyDeleteOh the trials of getting a parent in to a safe place when they don't want to go. You're doing well with all the advantages of assisted living. I know you'll get it done.
ReplyDeleteI hope your splint can come off soon and you can get back to normal.
Love all the funnies. I laughed more than once.
