Hello friends! I am FINALLY finished with this quilt... my first, and possibly only. If I ever make another one, I think it will be smaller. This one is about 5 feet by 5 feet, and 25 square feet of 3 layers is difficult when you don't really know what you're doing. I got a lot of help from Youtube, specifically Made Everyday with Dana. (although mine looks nothing like hers!)
I got the idea when I bought some Moana fabric (which was my granddaughter's favorite character when I purchased it). This was last November, I think. I only had one "fat quarter" of it, so I decided to combine it with other fabrics and make a quilt. I was going to give it to the grandbaby at Christmas. That didn't happen. Then, I thought I would give it to her for her birthday in February. Again, didn't happen. Easter came and went. Here we are in the middle of summer when you are least likely to need a quilt, but it is finished.
I made a LOT of mistakes. I hope you can't look closely enough to see some of them! Maybe I should feel embarrassed showing a less-than-perfect item, but at least I learned a lot while making it. This was the hardest thing I've ever sewn. Prior to this, the hardest thing was a stretchy knit nightgown with piping and darts in the front.
Anyway, here it is! For more crafty fun, visit Crafty Creators and Friendship Friday. Have a great weekend!
I think it’s amazing! I could never do it, and the first one has to be the hardest.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You should get an account so I know it's you, which is silly since I know it's you, but make an account so I know for sure! LOL
DeleteYou did a great job! That's how you learn, by doing it.
