Do you remember what the vowels are? A, E, I, O, U, and sometimes Y.
The following is a list of words I like that begin with a vowel.
1. innocuous - harmless, safe.
2. ubiquitous - common, everywhere, ever-present
3. agonizing - difficult and painful suffering (physical or emotional pain)
4. ingenious - clever, intelligent, brilliant
5. elegant - beautiful, classic, sophisticated
6. innovative - creative, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art
7. integrity - honest, upright, ethical
8. authentic - real, genuine
9. ostentatious - flamboyant, showy, flashy
10. unabashed - shameless, not embarassed
11. eccentric - bizarre, unusual
12. atypical - nonconforming, peculiar, not the norm
13. idiosyncratic - distinctive, quirky, unique

Sounds almost like a poem forming. I read that in Hebrew the vowels are left out so that the speaker or reader can infuse the spirit in the word. I once wrote a poem about how consonants are like the carbs of language and vowels are the verbs.
ReplyDeleteVery cool for a TT.
ReplyDeleteThis was a fun theme.
ReplyDeleteSome excellent words.
ReplyDeleteGrandma says when she was in school, it was also taught that "w" is sometimes a vowel, and i get why. In English, we don't end words with a single letter "u" (with the exception of the words you and thou), so words ending in "ow" are quite literally "ouu". The "u" is doubled!
Great words.
